MORNING PRAYERS
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come.”
And let him that hears say, “Come.”
And let him that is thirsty COME!
And whosoever will,
Let him take
the water of life freely.
– Revelation 22: 17
He who believes on Me,
as the Scripture has said,
out of his belly shall flow
rivers of living water.
– John 7: 38
Cause me to hear
your lovingkindness in the morning;
for in you do I trust:
cause me to know the way
wherein I should walk;
for I lift up my soul unto you.
– Psalm 142:8 (143:8)
God is the Lord,
and He revealed Himself to us.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good;
for His mercy endures forever.
Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me,
but in the name of the Lord
I defended myself against them.
Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord,
and it is wonderful in our eyes.
Come Quickly, Lord Jesus!
Maranatha!
Blessed is our God,
now and ever and to the ages of ages.
Amen!
Bendito sea nuestro Dios
perpetuamente ahora y siempre
y por los siglos de los siglos.
Amén
Glory to God in the Highest,
and on Earth, Peace, Goodwill towards men!

Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities
for your name’s sake.
Oh, Santísima Trinidad, ten piedad de nosotros.

Oh, Santo, mira y sana nuestras debilidades
por Tu Nombre.

Our Father in heaven, Holy is Your Name.
Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory,
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos,
santificado sea tu nombre, venga a nosotros tu Reino,
hágase tu voluntad, como es en el cielo así en la tierra.
El pan nuestro sustancial dánosle hoy,
perdónanos nuestras deudas así como nosotros
perdonamos a nuestros deudores,
y no nos dejes caer en la tentación,
mas líbranos del maligno.
Porque Tuyo es el Reino, el Poder y la gloria,
Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo,
ahora y siempre y por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
MORNING TROPARIA
(Morning Hymn)
Arising from sleep, I fall down before you, O Good One and cry out to you, O Almighty One, the angelic hymn: holy, holy, holy are you, O God! Through the prayers of the Theotokos, have mercy on us!
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Now that you have raised me from my bed of sleep, O LORD, enlighten my mind and heart and open my lips that I may praise you, O Holy Trinity: holy, holy, holy are you, O God! Through the prayers of the Theotokos, have mercy on us!
Now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Suddenly shall come the Judge and the deeds of each person shall be revealed; thus with fear we cry out at midnight: holy, holy, holy are you, O God! Through the prayers of the Theotokos, have mercy on us!
LORD have mercy! (3x)
KYRIE Eleison! (3x)
¡Señor, ten piedad! (3x)
LORD have mercy! (3x)
PRAYER OF ST. BASIL THE GREAT
Having arisen from sleep, I thank you, O holy Trinity, for in your great goodness and patience you have not become angry with me in my negligence and sinfulness, nor have you destroyed me in my transgressions, but in your compassion you have raised me up as I lay in despair that I might sing the glories of your majesty.
Enlighten the eyes of my understanding; open my heart to receive your words; teach me your commandments and help me to do your will, confessing you from my heart, singing and praising your all-holy name: of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Come let us worship God our King!
Venid inclinémonos al Rey nuestro Dios.
Come let us worship and fall down
before Christ our King and our God!
Venid inclinémonos y postrémonos ante Cristo, Rey y nuestro Dios.
Come let us worship and fall down
before Christ himself our King and our God!
Venid inclinémonos y postrémonos ante Cristo mismo,
El es nuestro Rey y Dios.
Psalm 50 (51)
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your great goodness,
according to your abundant mercy,
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin!
For I know my transgressions and my sin is ever
before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done that which is evil in your sight,
so that you are justified in your sentence
and blameless in your judgment.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Behold, you desire truth in the inward being;
therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.
Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean;
wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
Fill me with joy and gladness;
let the bones which you have humbled rejoice.
Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God
and put a new and right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways
and sinners will return to you.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
you God of my salvation
and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance.
O LORD, open my lips
and my mouth shall show forth your praise.
For you have no delight in sacrifice;
were I to give a burnt offering,
you would not be pleased.
The sacrifice acceptable to God
is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart,
O God, you will not despise.
Do good to Zion in your good pleasure;
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem;
then will you delight in right sacrifices,
in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.
THE CREED
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,
maker (creator) of heaven and earth
and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
the only-begotten,
begotten of the Father before all ages;
Light of Light, true God of true God;
begotten, not made (created);
of one essence with the Father;
by whom all things were made (created);
who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became man.
And he was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate
and suffered and was buried.
And the third day he rose again,
according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven;
and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And he shall come again with glory to judge
the living and the dead,
whose Kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the LORD, the Giver of Life,
who proceeds from the Father;
who with the Father and the Son together
is worshipped and glorified;
who spoke by the prophets.
In one holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
MORNING PRAYER
by METROPOLITAN PHILARET OF MOSCOW
O LORD, grant that I may greet the coming day in peace. Help me to rely on your holy will at every moment. In every hour of the day, reveal your will to me. Bless my time with all who surround me. Teach me to treat whatever may happen to me throughout the day with peace of soul and with firm conviction that your will governs all. In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events, let me not forget that all is sent by you. Teach me to act firmly and wisely, without embittering or embarrassing others. Give me strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it will bring. Direct my will. Teach me to pray, and pray yourself in me. Amen.
PRAYER AT DAYBREAK
by ARCHIMANDRITE SOPHRONIOS
O LORD eternal and creator of all things,
who of your unfathomable goodness
called me to this life,
who bestowed on me the grace of baptism
and the seal of the Holy Spirit,
who placed within me with the desire to seek you,
the one true God: hear my prayer.
I have no life, light, no joy or wisdom,
no strength except in you, O God.
Because of my unrighteousness
I dare not raise my eyes to you.
But you said to your disciples,
‘Whatsoever you shall ask in prayer believing,
you shall receive’ and
‘Whatsoever you shall ask in my name,
that will I do.’
Therefore I dare to call upon you.
Purify me from all taint of flesh and spirit.
Teach me to pray aright.
Bless this day which you give unto me,
your unworthy servant.
By the power of your blessing
enable me at all times to speak
and act to your glory with a pure spirit,
with humility, patience, love, gentleness,
peace, courage, wisdom, and kindness:
aware always of your presence.
Of your immense goodness, O LORD God,
show me the path of your will,
and grant me to walk in your sight without sin.
O LORD, unto whom all hearts be open,
you know what things I have need of.
You are acquainted with my blindness
and my ignorance, you know my infirmity
and my soul’s corruption;
but neither are my pain and anguish hid from you.
Therefore I ask you,
hear my prayer and by your Holy Spirit
teach me the way wherein I should walk;
and when my perverted will would lead me
down other paths, spare me not O LORD,
but force me back to you.
By the power of your love,
grant me to hold fast to that which is good.
Preserve and protect me from every word or deed
that corrupts the soul;
from every impulse unpleasing in your sight
and hurtful to my fellow man.
Teach me what to say and how to speak.
If it be your will that I make no answer,
inspire me to keep silent in a spirit of peace
that causes neither sorrow nor hurt to my fellow man.
Establish me in the path of your commandments
and to my last breath let me not stray
from the light of your ordinances,
that your commandments may become
the sole law of my being on this earth and all eternity.
Yea, LORD, I pray to you, have pity on me.
Spare me in my affliction and my misery
and hide not the way of salvation from me.
In my foolishness, O God,
I plead with you for many and great things.
Yet am I ever mindful of my wickedness,
my baseness, my vileness.
Have mercy upon me.
Cast me not away from your presence
because of my presumption.
Do you rather increase in me this presumption,
and grant unto me, the worst of men,
the chiefest of sinners,
to love you as you have commanded,
with all my heart, and with all my soul,
and with all my mind and with all my strength:
with my whole being.
Yea, O LORD, by your Holy Spirit,
teach me good judgment and knowledge.
Grant me to know your truth
before I go down into the grave.
Maintain my life in this world
until I may offer unto you worthy repentance.
Take me not away in the midst of my days,
nor while my mind is still blind.
When you shall be pleased to bring my life to an end,
forewarn me that I may prepare my soul
to come before you.
Cleanse me from secret faults,
from all iniquity that is hidden in me;
and give me a right answer before your judgment seat.
Be with me, O LORD,
at that dread hour and grant me
the joy of salvation.
Amen.
THE BREASTPLATE OF ST. PATRICK, OF IRELAND
I bind to myself today
The strong power of the invocation of the Trinity:
I confess the Trinity in the unity,
The Creator of the creation.
I bind to myself today forever
The power of the incarnation of Christ with his baptism,
The power of his crucifixion with his burial,
The power of his resurrection with his ascension,
The power of his coming on the Judgement Day.
I bind to myself today
The power of the cherubim’s love,
The obedience of angels,
The hope of resurrection unto reward,
The prayers of patriarchs,
The prophecies of prophets,
The preaching of apostles,
The faith of confessors,
The purity of holy virgins,
The deeds of righteous men.
I bind to myself today
The power of heaven,
The light of the sun,
The brightness of the moon,
The splendour of fire,
The flashing of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of sea,
The stability of earth,
The compactness of rocks.
I bind to myself today
God’s power to guide me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to teach me,
God’s eye to watch over me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to give me speech,
God’s hand to guide me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to shelter me,
God’s host to secure me,
From the snares of demons,
From the seductions of vices,
From the lusts of nature,
From everyone who meditates injury to me,
Afar or near, alone or with many.
I invoke today all these powers
Against every hostile and merciless power
Which may assail my body and my soul,
Against the reports of false prophets,
Against the blind laws of foolish men,
Against the false teaching of heresy,
Against the deceits of idolatry,
Against the spells of the jealous,
Against the craft of the sorcerors,
Against every knowledge that binds the soul of man.
Christ, protect me today
Against every poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against the death-wound,
That I may receive an abundant reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ within me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
I bind to myself today
The strong power of the invocation of the Trinity:
I confess the Trinity in the unity,
The Creator of the creation.
PRAYER, BY ST. BASIL THE GREAT
(5th Prayer)
O Almighty LORD,
God of the angelic powers and of all flesh,
you dwell on high and care for the lowly;
you search men’s hearts and innermost beings
and truly know all our hidden thoughts.
Ever-living light from all eternity,
in whom there is neither variation
nor shadow due to change,
trusting in your abundant mercy,
we offer you at this present hour
our prayers from stained lips, O immortal King.
Forgive every sin which we have committed
against you in word or deed, in knowledge
or in ignorance, and cleanse us from every stain
of flesh and spirit.
Grant that with a pure and watchful heart
we may pass the night of this life
in anticipation of the brilliant and holy day
when your only-begotten Son, our LORD,
God and Saviour Jesus Christ,
will come with glory to judge
and render to each according to his deeds.
May we not be found idle or sleeping,
but watchful and actively performing your commandments.
May we be prepared to enter into
his divine and glorious bridal-chamber,
where the voice of those who feast is unceasing
and the gladness of those who behold
the goodness of your glory is indescribable.
For you are the true light
who enlightens and sanctifies all,
and all creation sings your praise forever.
Amen.

Epistle Reading
St. Paul’s Letter to the Hebrews 7:26-28; 8:1-2
Brethren, it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above the heavens. He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people; he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Indeed, the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect for ever. Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent which is set up not by man but by the Lord.
Gospel Reading
John 10:9-16
The Lord said, “I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one shepherd.”

TROPAR OF THE HOLY CROSS
O LORD, save your people and bless your inheritance. Grant victory to Christians over their adversaries and by the power of your cross preserve your habitation.
COMMEMORATION OF THE LIVING
O LORD Jesus Christ our God,
who for the sake of your eternal mercy
and lovingkindness became man
and suffered crucifixion and death for the salvation of all,
who rose from the dead and ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of the Father
where you hear the prayers of all who call upon you humbly and with their whole heart:
incline your ear to us and listen to the prayer which your servants offer as a spiritual sacrifice for all your people.
Remember first of all your holy, catholic and apostolic church which you have purchased with your precious blood.
Strengthen it, multiply it, keep it in peace and do not allow the gates of hell to prevail against it.
Prevent schisms among the churches,
pacify the ragings of the pagans,
quickly destroy the uprisings of heresies
by the power of your Holy Spirit.
Have mercy, O Lord, upon the president,
the congress, the judiciary, governors,
those who make and administer our laws,
the municipal authorities,
those who protect us and serve us,
and those who serve in our armed forces
and save them all.
Give them peace and continual victory
over unrighteousness and over evil in all places.
May they provide peace so that your holy church
and all your people may live calm and ordered lives
in your sight, in true faith and prayer, with godly deeds.
Have mercy, O LORD, upon popes, patriarchs and metropolitans, archbishops and bishops, priests, deacons, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, and the whole order of the clergy of your church.
Save them, whom you have established to feed the flock of your Word, and by their prayers have mercy on us sinners and save us.
Have mercy, O LORD,
on our spiritual fathers and mothers and save them,
and by their holy prayers forgive us our transgressions.
Have mercy, O LORD, on our parents and save them
together with our spouse, children,
brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles,
cousins, and friends.
Grant them your blessing,
both here and in the age to come.
Have mercy, O LORD, on the old and the young,
the needy, the orphans, the widows
and all who are in sickness and sorrow,
distress and affliction,
oppression and captivity,
in prison and confinement.
Save them, together with your servants
who are under persecution for your sake
and for the sake of the faith.
Remember them, visit them,
strengthen and comfort them,
and by your power grant them speedy relief,
freedom and deliverance.
Have mercy, O LORD,
on all who travel and save them:
those who are sent on duty,
our brothers and sisters and all Christians.
Have mercy, O LORD, on our enemies:
save all those who envy us,
wish us evil or deal unjustly with us.
May they not perish because of us sinners.
Enlighten, O LORD, with the truth of your holy wisdom,
all who have gone astray from the faith,
led by destructive heresies and
divergent philosophies,
and unite them once more to your
holy, catholic and apostolic Church. Amen.
COMMEMORATION OF THE DEPARTED
Remember, O LORD, those who have departed this life:
all popes, patriarchs, metropolitans, archbishops,
and all who served you in the priesthood
and ministry of the church,
apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers,
and in the monastic order
and grant them rest with your saints
in your eternal kingdom.
Remember, O LORD,
the souls of your servants now fallen asleep:
our parents, family and friends.
Forgive them all their sins,
committed in knowledge or in ignorance;
grant them your Kingdom,
a portion in your eternal blessing
and the enjoyment of your unending life.
Remember, O LORD,
all who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection to eternal life:
our brothers and sisters,
Christians throughout the world.
Place them with your saints,
before the light of your countenance,
and have mercy on us,
for you are good and the Lover of mankind.
Amen.
